It is understood that in 2012, Fushun Petrochemical Company 200,000 tons / year styrene-butadiene rubber plant (currently the second largest domestic production line) was built, the production mainly uses potassium phosphate as the electrolyte, producing 30-50 tons of environmental sludge every day. When the new environmental protection law was promulgated and implemented, strict requirements for phosphorus wastewater discharge were put forward. Thereafter, Fushun Petrochemical Company carried out technical renovation of the plant and achieved some results. However, the increase of phosphorus wastewater treatment cost seriously restricted the long-term and full-load production of the plant.

In November, Lanzhou Chemical Research Center launched the project of "Research and Development of Phosphorus-free Production Technology for Fushun Petrochemical 200,000 t/a SBR Plant". Liang Tao, Deputy Engineer of the center, said that without reference to the "sample", the research team made bold explorations on the formulation and electrolyte-centered polymerization system according to the characteristics of the device. Through hundreds of batches of small-scale polymerization, coagulation and processing application tests, the small-scale process and formulation were determined, which broke through the technical problem of poor stability of latex in phosphorus-free synthesis, solved the contradiction between the mechanical properties of products, and successfully developed a "new phosphorus-free synthesis" of the first technology. In 2015, pilot products passed the evaluation test of tire enterprises. At the end of May this year, the researchers carried out more than 50 batches of analysis and small scale evaluation tests on the auxiliaries needed for the test, and confirmed the process after the equipment transformation was carried out. The production was formally put into production, and the device operated smoothly for more than 120 hours. The series of engineering problems such as emulsion instability were effectively solved, and environmental protection products were produced.


The success of this industrial test has greatly reduced the operation cost of the plant, completely changed the environmental bottleneck of 200,000 tons/year SBR plant, and made a useful exploration for the transformation and upgrading of China's synthetic rubber industry.
